Our Church Covenant
Having been led by the Spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, we do now in the presence of God, most solemnly and joyfully enter into this Covenant with one another, as members of one body in Christ.
We pledge, therefore, by the energizing work of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love.
To strive for the advancement of this church in knowledge, wisdom and holiness.
To promote its prosperity and spiritually.
To sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline and doctrines.
To give it sacred preeminence over all institutions of human origin.
To contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor and the spread of the Gospel of Christ to all nations.
We also pledge to maintain family and personal devotions.
To educate our children in the Gospel and Scriptures.
To seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances.
To uphold Christ’s reputation before the world in our living.
To be just in our dealings, faithful in our commitments and exemplary in our deportment, trusting the Holy Spirit to develop in us the fruit of the Spirit.
To be zealous in advancing the kingdom of Christ our Savior and Lord.
We further pledge to watch over one another in brotherly love, to remember each other in prayer, to aid each other in sickness and distress.
To cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation, knowing Christ’s command to pursue it without delay; to have a forgiving spirit even as God for Christ’s sake has forgiven you; Matthew 18:21-35; Ephesians 4:30-32.
To avoid all tattling, backbiting and excessive anger.
To abstain from all drugs, food, drink and practices which bring unwarranted harm to the body or jeopardize our own or another’s faith.
We moreover pledge that when we move from here, we will, as soon as possible, unite with another church where we can carry out the spirit of this Covenant and the principles of God’s Word.
