Other highlights
Other highlights from our history include:
- The present parsonage was started in 1893, not to cost over $1,500.00. $1,000.00 was to be borrowed and $500.00 was to be by subscription.
- On September 5, 1916, it was voted to have the church and parsonage wired for electric lights.
- The total parcels of land that Quinton Baptist Church acquired from 1890 through 1977 were six, ranging from $1.00 to $22,500.00.
- On May 31, 1981, a new sanctuary was dedicated. This is the brick building behind the old white sanctuary that sits off Main Street (Route 49). Total cost was $270,000.00.
- In 1984, the sanctuary floor in the old building was leveled, for use as a fellowship hall, and in 1986 a kitchen was installed.
- Our present pastor, Rev. Richard Brennan, was called by Fellowship Baptist Church. Fellowship Baptist was begun as a result of the split in the congregation over the role of the pastor that developed in March and April 1990. Many members of the church chose to leave and hold services at another location, incorporating under the name Fellowship Baptist Church.
The two congregations reconvened under Pastor Brennan’s leadership on September 29, 1993, as Quinton Baptist Church, and Pastor Brennan continues now as the twenty-fifth pastor. New officers were elected at the first meeting of the two congregations, with a new Constitution, Bylaws and Covenant being accepted as amended.
